My name is Michael Lee I am a sophomore at Brea Olinda High School in GITA 2. GITA has contributed much to my life and I hope to give back to the program as it has done for me. I have developed my skills as a coder since GITA 1 and I want to continue to learn more. I am currently taking AP European History, Honors Precalculus, Honors Chemistry, Spanish 3, Honors Literature, soccer, and of course, GITA. I want to excel in all of my classes and extracurricular activities. Sports have been a major part of my life. I started playing soccer since I was about 7 years old. I joined club soccer in late elementary and continued until high school where I decided to play for the Wildcat soccer program. I am the co-president of a club known as STEMpowerment, which is also an official organization. Taught by passionate high school volunteers, STEMpowerment offers fun, hands-on science classes which nurture and promote a love for science, engineering, technology, and math for the children of various communities across Southern California. Through our high school volunteer team, we impact the lives of thousands of children daily with a goal to instill a passion for science in each and every one of the kids we serve. I learned how to play piano when I was in 2nd grade and continued my lessons for four years. I decided to pick up a new instrument to learn for fun and I chose the ukulele in 9th grade. I spend time searching up how to play new songs for the piano or ukulele and strive to become better in them. I am part of the Boy Scouts of America and as a Life Scout I am one rank away from achieving my Eagle Scout award. I am looking towards colleges located in California such as UC's, but I am still uncertain of what college I would want to go to. I only know that I can't get there unless I work to my full potential and that can only happen if I work hardest at even the small things in life.
